Governor João Doria (PSDB) once again promised the creation of the “Brazilian Silicon Valley” on the land where Ceagesp (the main vegetable supply center in the country) currently operates, in Vila Leopoldina (west of SP).
The goal had been assumed even when Doria was mayor of São Paulo. The toucan posted images of a meeting with Mayor Bruno Covas (PSDB) on his social networks to discuss the matter.
Doria intends to implement the CITI (International Center for Technology and Innovation) on the site of the current Ceagesp, in partnership with the private sector. The area covers 650,000 square meters, in a neighborhood that has seen a real estate boom this decade.
“We are discussing here the relocation of Ceagesp, the new warehouse in São Paulo and the best alternatives for the city and the state,” said Doria, in a video.
This year, the toucan announced the commitment of the Jair Bolsonaro government (PSL) that the space, which is federal, would be transferred to another area of the capital of São Paulo.
However, as reported by the column Mônica Bergamo, Ceagesp’s board of directors says that it has not received a project to change the location of the warehouse from the current address to a new land. “There is no official statement from the federal government about the change”, says the legal director of Ceagesp, Christopher Aguiar.
Despite insisting on moving, Doria changed the deadline for changing the warehouse address. Now, he works with a term of five years. “At the turn of 2023 to 2024, Ceagesp will no longer be where it is”, says Governor João Doria.
